Welcome to Sonic Shocks!

 

We are an independent force of music lovers, dedicated to delivering honest, punctual reviews for both upcoming and established artists. Having cut our craft at some of the finest music establishments on the web, Sonic Shocks is a fresh new site for the next generation. Don't be fooled into thinking we are simply backseat reviewers, for we'll be covering gigs all over the country and letting you know which artists should be on your music radar. The traditional interview will be but a distant memory when you see how it's done, Sonic Shocks style!

The Detail

Style over substance? Not OUR style, sorry.

If you’re looking for a pretty fancy website with lot of crap that you don’t really need to know about, but kinda ‘looks good’, head somewhere else now. We’re here to give you information. We’ll feed you food for thought, for your ears, but not for your eyes; although you’ll find plenty of exclusive pictures and exquisite video material available around the site (and we’ll make your browsing as easy as possible).

To all artists, PRs and labels out there... You are welcome to send your material to Sonic Shocks. What we can promise is that we will listen to everything. What we cannot promise is that we will review/ publish everything, simply because it is impossible. Modern day wonders such as the internet and specifically MySpace, has increased the quantity of music on offer (the same can’t be said about quality unfortunately) and sometimes we have to be brutally selective. Please accept our apologies in advance.

If we are planning to publish your work, you will hear from us the moment it goes live on the site. If not, the chances are that the postman, or the dog got to it first. Or more likely, we didn’t (or haven't) had enough time to write down our thoughts, or it is simply not something we have the expertise to review (genre's outside our specialist areas - contact us first!). In addition, if we have already reviewed the album that your single comes from, as well as the following two singles you are keen to get coverage for, we have probably started to run out of things to say.... In the worst case scenario, maybe your music just sucks and we’re trying to spare your feelings. Either way, sending us five follow up emails will only cut our time even more and possibly piss us off a bit. Bad PRing.

To all music fans out there: feedback is very welcome (as long as it’s not something like ‘Ha, you forgot the accent on the fourth line, of the second paragraph, of that three page review).  A firm favourite that people believe makes them feel better is sending ‘go back to your day job’. Save yourself some time, because it is unnecessary and we all have one or two already.  Please if you read something you like don’t forget to re-tweet and share with your Facebook friends.

It's a lot to read, but it saves both you and I time in the long run!
